WHAT HAPPENS AT THE YARD: MARCH

For March, the weather has been unusually beautiful. With longer days and plenty of sunshine, the sailing season feels just around the corner. And at VMG Yachtbuilders, there has been no shortage of activity. Here’s what has been going on at the yard this month:

Let’s start with something you simply can’t miss. Neorion has come ashore at the Volmolen, all 100 tons of her. Her refit is now entering a new phase, and in the coming weeks, work on this impressive schooner will continue at full speed.

At Stofberg, we’ve built two full-size spray booths, giving us the flexibility to carry out all paintwork on the sport fishing boats and the Puffin entirely in-house. Right now, two sport fishing boats are in the booths. In the coming weeks, they’ll be exchanged for the third sport fishing boat and the Puffin 42.

In the meantime, the Puffin 42 is progressing steadily. We’re currently working on her interior and technical systems, and everything is coming along very well.

In the woodworking hall, the refit of Simmerdream continues. The first parts of her new interior are now being fitted, and we’ll keep you posted as she comes back together.

Our regular client Misha has been fully sanded, and we’ve started applying new varnish layers to make her shine again. Another boat that has returned for the winter is Sally. She’s now ready for a new season and will be back in the water very soon.

Over at SDH, the hull of the Zilverfloat Scout 35 is coming along nicely. The plating is already in place, clearly showing the shape she’s starting to take on.

The start of the sailing season also means we’ve been busy preparing boats to get back on the water. Two Arcona yachts are ready to launch and enjoy great sailing days with their (new) owners. Our Delta Powerboats demo boats are being prepped for test sails and future adventures.

Yes, it’s a long list. But that’s just how we like it, especially in spring. It’s a good sign of what’s to come.

Stay tuned for next month’s update!
