WHAT HAPPENS AT THE YARD: JANUARY
January began and ended with snow, but that didn’t slow things down at the yard. As always, we’ve used the first month of the year to make solid progress across multiple projects.
Patriot is being refitted by Holland Jachtbouw as part of the VMG Group. It’s a great example of the collaboration within our group, with SDH working on the installation of the railings and carrying out repairs to the deck. Preparations for a new teak deck are underway, and the painters are scheduled to begin mid-February. The focus for the coming period will be on the technical side of the refit.
Most of the attention in the Sport Fish series has been on the second yacht, which is the Express version. Inside, the interior is clearly taking shape, while the deck and cockpit are also making good progress. Technical systems are being installed, storage lockers have been fitted with gas springs, and decisions are being made in close consultation with the owner to fine-tune various details. The third yacht, which is the Flybridge version, is also moving forward. This series continues to develop steadily, with both yachts making great progress.
The Puffin 42 is moving closer to completion. Doors are installed, ceilings in the galley and saloon are in place, and both the wood stove and refrigerator have been fitted. The interior is coming together piece by piece, and we’re starting to get a clear view of what the final result will look like.
Work on Jeff also continued throughout the month. A new aluminium roof is currently being designed. The water and fuel tanks have been installed, and the toilet space is now in place. The steering console and galley unit are taking shape, and with the steering wheel now fitted, the layout is really starting to come together. Meanwhile, work on the bilge and hull continues.
Selene has entered a new phase of her winter maintenance. A tent has been installed on deck and surface preparation is underway, with sanding progressing steadily. This will lay the foundation for the varnish and paintwork, which are set to begin in early March.
In the same hall, Sally is also progressing nicely. Her woodwork is being refined surface by surface, as careful sanding prepares her for the next varnishing phase.
We’re off to a strong start this year and look forward to sharing more updates with you in February!
